Buckie Festival 2007 |
| To mark the Highland Year of Culture and the arrival of the Moray Firth Flotilla, Buckie Festival 2007, led by Theatre Modo, created a spectacular celebration of the culture and community of Buckie and the surrounding areas. Drawing from local myths and legends, the show followed the Burry Man and his followers as he met a host of bizarre and magical characters on his way to battle the evil fire-breathing sea monster, the Cockie Coo. The show involved more than 500 local performers from over 40 different groups as they took to the streets of Buckie in an extravaganza of acting, dancing, music, circus, historic boats, giant puppets, fireworks and much much more. | |

CircoModo |
| CircoModo is a circus project open to everyone aged 8+ in Greater Govan. It started last year with workshops throughout Govan, and then an intensive project in the October holidays leading up to a show. Performers also took part in the Celtic Connections Festival Parade this January. Using circus skills to integrate young people in the Greater Govan area, CircoModo brings together participants from all backgrounds to learn, work and play together, and ultimately to create high quality and enjoyable public performances. Through circus, the project encourages social and personal development as well as tackling issues of inclusion and social cohesion. Circus is a great cultural outlet for young people offering a healthy physical activity for those not interested in sports and a skill that requires discipline, tenacity and determination to accomplish that can young people with a sense of pride and achievement. After a very successful pilot project last October, CircoModo has been awarded further funding by GCC to set up a weekly circus school in Govan. |
